The Inner Critic Series
Update:
New dates to be announced soon - please call the office for details.

The workshop
Our inner critic can keep us smaller and less engaged in life than we want to be. It undermines us with messages that limit us in our relationships, in our work, in our engagement with life. It tells us that our bodies are not beautiful enough, that we are not clever enough, that we should work harder, be more responsible, not let people down... With all the harsh messages and feelings of guilt and unease the inner critic gives us, it’s hard to relax and enjoy life – it’s hard to show the world who we really are!
Yet we can do something about it...
What we cover
The workshop is full of insights and practical experiences designed to help you deal with your inner critic. We will look at:
• How your inner critic develops and what its true purpose is
• How it affects your relationship with yourself and others
• How it links to your self-image, self-confidence and self worth
• When you are most likely to get attacked by your inner critic
• Practical exercises in pairs, threes and as a group to help you transform your inner critic into a valuable resource
• Open forum to ask questions, discuss issues and share thoughts that have arisen.
Hosted by Ian Young and Dr. Ty Francis

Presence at Work (Sep-Feb - Central London)

With Tim Malnick
(Workshop 1) (13 September - London)
(Workshop 2) (14 October - London)
(Workshop 3) (21 November - London)
(Workshop 4) (20 January - London)
(Workshop 5) (21 February - London)
What is this about?
This pioneering workshop series takes as its central thread the practice of direct awareness in the present moment. We will explore how this simple but powerful practice can transform your relationship to a number of key questions around work, business and organisations.
The series is designed as a set of experiential and stimulating 1-day taster workshops, which are gateways into deeper explorations. The workshops offer a space to enquire from an altogether fresh perspective into important questions concerning your work that may have been with you for quite some time.
We will explore topics such as leadership and presence; the paradox of ambition; responsible decision-making; the roots of pressure, stress and burnout; and the possibility of offering our work as service to something altogether bigger than our incessantly planning and judging minds.
The workshops - taken either singly or as a whole series - will provide:
- A radically different set of ideas and insights into some typical work related issues
- The opportunity to significantly shift your approach to many areas of your working life
- The chance to explore aspects of your experience often ignored or marginalised in today’s work and professional development settings
- Space for personal reflection on important issues that you face in a supportive and stimulating group setting
- New thinking, frameworks and practices that connects your moment to moment experience with the core organisational and cultural challenges of our time
- A grounded and pragmatic introduction to key ideas and practice around meditation, mindfulness and presence for you to take away and work with. Each workshop includes teaching input using both ancient and contemporary frameworks, personal reflection , experiential exercises and group dialogue to take your thinking deeper. In addition, each workshop includes an introduction to practices of mindfulness, presence and meditation in the context of work and organisational challenges

SparkCatcher (17-18 Jan 2012 - UK)

With Dr. Ty Francis and Ian Young
A ‘SparkCatcher’ group is an ongoing learning & development group for experienced consultants, coaches, directors, managers, and other professionals from different sectors who are involved in organisational change and innovation.
The group provides an opportunity:
• to explore ‘live’ personal & professional development issues in a confidential setting
• to find out about new thinking from different disciplines (not just from business) that has implications for change management
• to learn a range of innovative approaches to intervening in organisational & community systems that can be quickly applied back in the workplace
• to benefit from the support & stretch of experienced peers who work across different sectors.
How does SparkCatching work?
There will be 4 SparkCatcher meetings over the course of the year. Each meeting lasts for 2 days. The group is restricted to a maximum of 12 people to ensure we work at depth. To support a working climate of safe experimentation, once formed, the group does not admit new members.
Each SparkCatcher meeting includes:
• A New Thinking session, where the group is introduced to stimulating & challenging new paradigms & perspectives from fields such as Gestalt, systems & complexity thinking, spirituality, creativity & consciousness studies. These inputs can be tailored to the group’s needs.
• A New Tools session will also introduce the group to emerging methodologies including Synectics, Constellations, Action Enquiry, Dialogue & more... The focus here will be on experiential learning using issues and case studies brought by group members.
• Several New Conversations sessions will use group discussion & enquiry processes to explore people’s approaches to tackling ‘live’ professional development and workplace issues. Group members can gain powerful insights into their underlying patterns & those of their organisations – insights that support real growth & development for the person, the team, the organisation & the SparkCatcher group itself.
Where: UK - tbd. When: The first session will take place on 17-18 Jan 2012. The next three sessions will take place by arrangement with the group at approximately 8-weekly intervals. How much: The total cost of the 8-day programme is £2995.00 total (ex VAT) which includes lunch and refreshments. Please note this is a non-residential programme.
